  • In this study, 376 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 infection were examined. These participants were divided into two groups, with or without preexisting heart failure.

  • ︎Interestingly, patients with heart failure did not have higher rates of death compared with those without heart failure.

  • Nevertheless, those patients had greater odds of needing readmission back into the hospital within 60 days of discharge.

  • ︎Moreover, heart failure patients had a higher likelihood of COVID-19 impacting the cardiac tissue initiating heart muscle damage.

  • In conclusion, having pre-existing heart failure will not increase the chances of death but rather the chances of acquiring other medical problems mainly related to the cardiology system.
